Hey travelers! I don't post on my blog near as much as I used to or want to but I do always, always answer emails and questions from fellow or future travelers when I get them. A question I always seem to get is...what's the hardest part about traveling?
Simple question, could be a simple answer but my thoughts drift and I always hesitate before answering.
It's not the new towns full of strange faces and unfamiliar roads. It's not the change in climate that always messes with my hair or the incredibly annoying and sometimes downright scary clouds of Texas mosquitos.
It isn't throwing away money at a rent house that you can't make your own or the monthly storage building payment that reminds you that you have a box full of stuff you've paid more to keep sitting somewhere than you actually paid for all the stuff in it.
It isn't the miles, the long days, or the lonely times where you'd pay a lot of money just to see one familiar face.
It is the moments I know we miss with the people we love the most.
We miss birthdays, holidays, parades, and picnics. Sunsets and giggles and tears and triumphs.
I am a family girl. Every day away is a day I know I will never get back and one that my girls won't have with their grandparents and cousins, aunts and uncles.
And yes, it's really hard.
So why do it?
We miss a lot of moments now; but we are building a lot of opportunities for the future.
Opportunities that wouldn't exist had we never decided to travel.
I'm blessed every day to live the life I do, some days are harder than others, but that's true no matter where you are.
Make every moment count, seize every opportunity, and go see the world...it's beautiful out there.✌🏻️
