Next month, we're going to be bringing another little girl into our sweet family...and I'll be honest with you, I'm a little nervous. I'm not nervous because I don't think I can handle two little monsters; instead I'm nervous because Campbell won't be an only child anymore. Don't get me wrong, I am so excited for Allie to get here...I just want to make sure that I love them equally and give them both all that they deserve.
Campbell is excited for the arrival of her baby sister, for now, but I know once Allie is here...I'll have another little time sucker on my hands and I won't be able to devote as much time to Campbell as I have over the past two years. I want her to always feel special and know that even though she has a baby sister, she is still mommy's best friend.
So I got a little sentimental and though I don't do poems very often, I felt the need to preserve the sweet memories I have with her right now in writing. It's simple in verse but written with all the love I have for her. If you have or have ever had a two year old, I think it's easy to relate to these most precious of "thieves." Enjoy it ya'll!
Mommy loves you Mini Bob...always, forever, and unconditionally.
I've Been Robbed By a 2-Year Old
I've been robbed by a 2-year old, yes, as crazy as it seems
Never did I think it could happen, not in my wildest dreams
She takes food right off my plate and sips straight from my straw
A smooth criminal she is, though she's less than three feet tall
I've seen her snatch my shoes and socks completely off my feet
She's even made me get out of my chair so she could have my seat
A jewel thief she is, nothing shiny is safe once it's in her sight
But if you try to tell her no, it quickly turns into a fight
Purses, lip gloss, money; chocolate, cuddles, and precious time
She takes it all with childlike ease and never spends a dime
I've watched her steal smiles from the grumpiest of men
No, don't be fooled for one second, she'll rob you too my friend
She will pull you in with a beautiful, one-dimpled smile
And though she's the most impressive robber you'll ever meet, she will never stand trial
There are days she steals my patience and sometimes I fear, my mind
Oddly though, it warms my heart, each time she robs me blind
She has stolen my covers and countless nights of sleep
But if I'm being honest, it's all hers to freely keep
Because, of all the things she's taken, one thing she's stolen for sure
My heart and soul belong to this little girl, they aren't mine anymore
Yes, I've been robbed by a 2-year old but I think it's safe to say
That of all the things she takes from me, I still grow richer from her each day
