For example, my daughter has been screaming "green" all morning. Like tantrum throwing because I can't give her green. I understand the word green of course; but I'm pretty sure our definitions are not lining up.
So I tried handing her anything I could find that was green. Grapes, no. Crayon, no. Ball, no. No, no, no...and still she cries.
I'm not sure I'll ever figure it out. Sometimes she is just grumpy and makes crap up to test my patience I think.
Isn't it kind of like when we want something but don't know what it is; but are upset because we want it. I drive my husband crazy with that. What do you want to eat, he says...I don't know...something good.
Basic example, but he's right, I say that all the time. Because I really don't know.
There are times when we're all searching for our "green". Do you know the feeling when you want or need something but can't put your finger on what it is? Have a craving for food but everything in the fridge looks gross?
There are a lot of times in life when we don't know what we want; but want it anyway. In those times, instead of fussing and whining about it, I try to focus on what it is I need instead.
Wants are infinite. There are so many things in this world we want; a better car, new clothes, a vacation. But we oftentimes forget that our basic needs are already met and that everything else is just icing on the cake.
I don't know what it was Campbell wanted earlier. I don't think she knew. But now she is happily sitting with her bears and watching Doc McStuffins. No harm done, no green found.
Whatever it is she wanted, she must not have needed it or I'd have probably figured it out.
When you can't find your green, focus on your needs instead. You'll probably find that everything you need is already there for you.
I know it's a simple thing...but sometimes you just need a reminder:)
