One of those things was a box full of prayers I had made months and months ago.
I can't recall where I got the idea from...but I do know why I made it. At the beginning of this year, my little family was struggling. We had more bills than we could handle and not much income. Both of our cars were one more breakdown from completely gone and we had no way to make the situation any better.
So, I made a prayer box. I didn't know what else to do. There were so many things we needed desperately. I had pleaded and pleaded with God to help us. I just needed a small sign that we weren't alone.
I took a box I was using to hold my hair bows and bobby pins and cut a slot in the top, just big enough to slip little pieces of paper containing my prayers.
Every time I asked God for something, I wrote it down along with the date and slipped it into the box. I made a promise to myself that if I put a prayer into my box, then I wouldn't worry about it anymore. It was in God's hands.
For weeks, I filled that little box up with hopes and prayers for my family. As time went on, I didn't put as many prayers in as I had when I first started. Months went by and I would occasionally slip a prayer in to give completely to God.
Things got better, every day got a little easier to handle. The bills weren't quite so frightening. Life was not so scary.
And then on one of those days when I was packing up 2 months ago, my little prayer box came tumbling down from the closet where I had placed it and tons of paper prayers came fluttering to the floor.
As I started to pick them up and read them, I couldn't help but smile and cry at the same time. Not kidding at all...every single prayer I had written down had been answered.
By way of little prayers I had written down in times of need, I could see God at work in my life. He has blessed me beyond measure.
Then I wondered how many other prayers I had made that had come to pass that I didn't even recognize.
I encourage you; if you want to see God at work in your life, start your own prayer box. Let go of all the things you worry about every day, give them to God completely, and you will see that you are incredibly blessed.
I wrote a verse on the top of my box and I hope it gives you some encouragement if there are some things in your life that you are afraid of giving to God or are constantly worried about.
Matthew 21:22
"And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive."
